Hi Dennis,
They run between 16 x 13 and 17 x 20. The more complicated ones, like the ones with wire wheels and extreme reflections take anywhere from 35-50 hours to complete. I use reference pictures that I have taken at car shows etc. I start by composing the picture that I want, car position , background and so on then make a preliminary sketch. I then refine the sketch into a fairly detailed line drawing. If the drawing needs to be enlarged I take it to the local copy shop and have some prints made of several different sizes. I then transfer the copy onto my working paper and start the coloring process. I don't start with any particular area, sometimes the car and sometimes the background. It just depends how the picture is composed.

Hi CBWho,
I have done several paintings of traction engines and one steam riverboat. The Baker and the Case are my own compositions and the Russell was done with permission from the fellow that took the picture. The riverboat was done after I had built a model of it.

In my last posting of the traction engine pictures I only posted each picture once. I don't know why the Baker came up 3 times. Maybe the Moderators can look into it and delete the other two copies.

I've gotten rid of the extra Baker pictures, but they were nice enough to see 3 times  ;)

I love the steam pictures, especially the Case and as Chris (CBWHO) pointed out, it's very impressive how well you do the reflections... especially the people in the fender on page 1 of the thread.  8)

By the way, you have cars, motorcylces and steam traction engines, have you done any gas tractors by themselves, like the ones included with the Russell? Would love if you had one of a Farmall F-20 or a Regular  ;)

The only tractor I have ever done was an Ford 8N for a fellow.

Stunning work George and very nice to see your many talents both with metal and pencils, these do have a pleasing photographic quality to them. I've always admired artists at work and it is interesting to read about your processes.

Great realist work! I love fine art, photography shows are my favorite. You have a lot of talent friend. I should have figured by your machining skills you were artistic in other ares. Your posts are great. I really dig your videos.

George, I'm dumbfounded and flabbergasted at the stunning quality of your art! Amazingly true to life work for certain and for sure!!!

Your astonishing attention to detail brings your art to life right before my eyes, and clearly the same is true with most anything you choose to turn your hands to ..... like machining model engineering projects such as we've been fortunate enough to get to see here as well!

Daniel summed it up very nicely George, I am also amazed at your skill level in what you set your mind to. I know you must have incredible patience & intellect to research and work out and then actually build/paint your projects.
