Hello Forum Friends
Some of you long standing Forum members have probably noticed by now, that I have quietly snuck back into the fold here and started posting again after an absence of over a year. It is certain that I'm very glad to be back, if you'll have me, but I haven't really been absent, as through the entire time I was checking in almost daily and keeping up with posts and developments for the most part all along. It is hoped that my return here does meet with the member's approval and acceptance. The reasons for my seemingly being absent for so long are many and varied, and perhaps someday I'll post the litany of sordid tales that offer an explanation, so that you all might better understand. But in the meantime, I have had a significant breakthrough this day, which I feel needs to be fully tested in order to make sure that it really is the success that I hope it to be.
That breakthrough involves getting my new computer (Windows 11) to talk to my old camera (Canon A1100is) so that I can download about a years' worth of photos into the same indexing system that my old computer made use of for my convenience. The problem was that the Canon Utilities program which I bought years ago and had used all that time (since early 2010) was not compatible for use with (read as "not supported by") the new upgraded Windows 11 programing, and so they didn't work together. Furthermore, there is no new Canon Utilities (for what is essentially an obsolete camera) program that is formatted to work with the new Windows 11, so it would seem that I was SOL for getting any of my more recent photos out of my old camera and into the same indexing system as the decade's worth of photos I already had downloaded into the computer.
However, today I discovered that there seems to be some remnant of Windows 10 lurking in the bowels of my Windows 11 system, as I was able to download the Canon program for photo downloads using that platform, even though my computer tells me that is not a recognized format for W-11. All I can say is that it seems to have worked, and I'm not seeing anything that tells me that it didn't work properly. But to be certain that it does actually work as expected and desired, I need to see if I can post a photo from the last year that will show that this system works for all applicable usage that I'm likely to put it too.
So here goes, let's see if I still remember how to post a photo here on the Forum, and if such a photo then does actually post from the missing year?!?!
