Smoking Figures
« on: March 24, 2019, 12:33:31 am »
Grandpa has a pair of these and I've always liked them, but he was out of "cigarettes"

Found these in an antique shop for $10, each with a pack of 20 smokes. Went on ebay a couple days later and now I have 400 cigarettes on the way from Ukraine  :D

Not the most exciting video, but wanted to include all of the good smoke rings

Funny little buggers these, and thanks for serving me a trip down memory lane Nick.

Think their from the 70īs or there about, as i remember the first one we got...primarely due to my own begging for it, while at a large annual horse and trading market here in Denmark back in the mid 70īs.
Cheers

That sounds about right as to when my grandparents would have bought their's. My grandpa couldn't believe that I found cigarettes still being made for them and I won't be surprised if more of these figures are added to my collection... They can be easily hidden on the shelves within the engines  :D

Nick, I have and have seen a lot of memorabilia from the '50's-'90's, but I have never seen these smoking figures...and my dad was a chain smoker!  Thanks for sharing.

Don't know what grade of "tobacco" is in those cigs, but I suspect there is a bit too much saltpeter mixed in.

Cool find Nick!!!

Wow I didn't realize the first 'pic' was a video. I thought these were just static figurines for steam workshop mock ups.

Just watched the video....I'm amazed.

Think you'd better order up at least a carton of smokes for each of those gents as they seem to puff their way through them pretty fast!  ;c)

Well... I did buy 400 and received a bonus 20, BUT they are much smaller than these older ones and don't make as nice of a smoke ring :-\

Phil, these are the new ones I got, but unfortunately they are much smaller... I am thinking a short piece of copper pipe stuck in the figures mouth to act as a cigarette holder. I cannot find any larger smokes. They can be bought in packs of 40, 100, or 200 and the more you buy, the cheaper they get. If you know what size you need, I can measure mine to let you know if the new ones are too small.

The old/originals are in a bag on the right with a tag "Made in Japan"
