Here is a You Tube video of a Cape Horn passage by the Flying P-Line steel barque Pekin, a sister to the Pamir. Irving Johnson, later Capt. Irving Johnson, as a young man decided to embark on such an adventure and did much to record it and later narrated it as you see here. That it was a tough life frought with near constant danger is well seen in these moving pictures, with the deck at times constantly under water, while going aloft in gale force conditions .... WOW!!!
