Strange lost and found scenario
« on: April 28, 2019, 06:22:17 am »
On Friday of this past week...I was expecting a small package of banana plugs via UPS from Amazon.

I got the usual notice "item delivered at 6:57 PM Friday evening".  Only problem was there was nothing on my doorstep nor in the mailbox.  I was going to give it a few days to see if it still showed up.  Saturday I get a text message from a friend who lives about 5 miles from here.  He found a small package on his lawn addressed to me!  Seems the UPS man was making deliveries in his neighborhood and somehow dropped my package while crossing this fellow's lawn.

We are getting together Monday morning for coffee and to retrieve my package.  What are the chances of something like that happening???  I wonder if 6:57 pm was the moment delivery guy dropped it????

What are the odds...

Incredible luck that the package got dropped on a friends lawn...and equally so if the delivery guy keeps his job for long, signing off for items clearly not delivered.

Not only will he keep his job , but no one will care at the office. ...just another day.

Sorry to hear that, doesn´t sound entirely optimal...

Over here, it takes just a few (valid) complaints, with no proper explanation offered from the driver, and he is booted.
Guess they all (FedeX, UPS, TnT, DHL, GLS, Hermes...and a gazillion smaller Danish players) try to appear as the "responsible" choice, as nearly everyone with a van seems to be trying to get a proper foothold in the private parcel market.
A market which until just a few years ago, was very close to monopolized by the government owned/funded Danish Postal Service.

Believe that i´ll just have to enjoy the service levels here right now then, as it sounds like they´re bound to decline once the "war" is over.
Cheers

Yes Bruce, went over to friend's house, enjoyed some chatting and coffee and returned home with my Amazon package.  It was a handful of banana jacks packed in a large bubble wrap envelope...hard to imagine driver dropped it and didn't notice.  Friend spotted it about 50 feet from his house the morning after it was dropped and rained on, but envelope was plastic and sealed well...plugs were fine.

What an incredibly odd and amazing occurrence. I mean really, what are the odds of having it accidently dropped five miles away, end up being in the yard of someone you know, and having him find it first?
