Update on enginediy issues.
« on: April 06, 2022, 08:28:42 am »
After much correspondence with Lucas at enginediy, my engine has still not been shipped after 30 days and I am now being told it will be ready to ship in another 2 weeks. Unfortunately this is past the date I have to escalate my case I opened with paypal, thus I am forced to escalate my case with paypal and hope they will refund my money. Evidently, according  to Lucas, these engines are being built in his kitchen, probably by his 5 yr old!

He needs to check the sandbox for your missing parts.

And the beat goes on.  First, let’s dispel the rumor that Stirlingkit and enginediy are separate.  They’re conjoined twins, two faces of the same creature.

How do I know? When I ran into issues with enginediy, specifically the complete absence of instructions for the whippet, among other things, they brewed up and sent me a pdf of the instructions in a matter of hours after the bosses got involved.  In a show of appreciation I sent back marked up editing, corrections and questions.  Our man Lucas at DIY received and answered my questions after consulting  with the engineering people.Today, on the stirlingkit website, I note there is a startup tutorial for the whippet engine.  Though it still uses incorrect information, failing to fix things like oil mix ratios, they did use my poorly marked up diagram showing the correct water flow.  This scribbled correction  document I sent to enginediy is now used on a stirlingkit tutorial.  It was never meant for publication, no matter which idiot twin posted it.

When my head stops pounding at the absurdity, I’ll reach out to Cara on the stirlingkit side…..

I hear you, Doug.  Honestly, if it wasn’t for the fact that the whippet engine appears to be their best effort yet from the manufacturing end, I would’ve been there a while ago.  As it is, the CAD work and CNC execution appears very nice.  I really would like to see those behind that succeed.  I fear the institutional barriers will be their undoing in the long run.  From the people side, they’re lost, just lost.
