Doing a great job so far Benny - it's coming along nicely! Following your thread is giving me a lot of ideas on how to go about a restoration like this - thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Larry. It is part time research and part time restore. I feel like I spend as much time reading as I do actually working. The engine base paint had me befuddled, with the nice green wash over the brown....turns out it's as easy as that- a wash. Thin highlight paint with water, then paint over your base color. Test pieces have produced good results.
Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad I can be helpful.

These engines, after much deliberation, have been confirmed as Schoenner 112/21 and 112/22, circa 1900. Thanks to Oliv, Maxwell and others.

I had some time to work on the boiler of the /21 today. One of my slipshod solder jobs on the SV bung had failed, so for good measure I re-soldered each of them while I had the cap off. Shortly the boiler was ready for the bath:

After 25 minutes, the color was looking appropriate:

So I carried on with reassembly.
