Centrifugal Water Pump for Model Engines
« on: April 15, 2019, 12:39:32 pm »
I'm aware Stuart used to make these type of pumps but they are long out of production and command high prices on the secondary market due to their rarity. I was wondering if there are any alternatives or anything similar out there to the Stuart offering?

A lot of the ones i've looked at are either too large or come coupled with an electric motor, small ones i've seen are mainly plastic not bronze or brass.

I'd be interested to know what folks on here have used, the reason i ask is that i'd love to make up a working pumping station diorama in the future with a Stuart D10 or equivalent coupled up to one of these pumps, either via direct drive or pulleys.

Sounds interesting Dennis, look forward to seeing that.

Anyone else got any other suggestions?

If you look at the thread on Jin's new vertical hit/miss engine you will see a belt driven centrifugal pump, just the right size for model steam. Maybe he will offer it seperately if we ask.

I found it

“Steam Motor 1/2 x 1/2 ‘S’ series
1/2 inch bore by 1/2 inch stroke
Single acting piston valve
I have yet to finish it (arrived pre started)

Arrived with the blue prints
Never been able to find out who where or what
Plans call for ME x 40 threads
 Measurements in imperial fractions
Pump capacity 6 or 8 gallons per hour.
