Knocked this up this morning out of some scrap brass and copper, all silver brazed.
I wanted a small gas burner for a KMV boiler. Had a nice chat on the phone from stinking hot and humid Oz to Nick over in freezing cold Minnesota yesterday and talked a bit about esbit and other solid fuels (something I haven't ever really used before) and thought I'd give making a small gas burner a go. I have made a few before but always used ceramic like what BIX use but I'd used it all up and wanted to see if copper with .70mm holes drilled would work.

Haven't used it in the boiler yet as the engine is still in pieces (base being sprayed painted). The flame that's coming from the holes looks alright so hoping it works ok.

I had hopes that the new tiny Bix round burner would work in the KMV’s, but it’s just too tall

Looks like that ought to work a treat Jim .... nice job that !!!

Not the easiest thing to photograph as the camera wants to overexpose the image taking it in the dark.

That is awesome little burner.  My question is, why doesn't the solder melt though?  That connection does not reach temperature to melt it?

Looking good...would this burner also fire the Peanut Rider engine?

I don't see why not? You could turn it right down or when making one just have either one drilled hole in the middle or a small cluster of holes in the middle?

Probably not something I'd do though as I like using the metho burner, I do like to cool my peanut rider between runs as that base gets bloody hot, hot enough that you can see scorch marks on the timber plinth.

Thanks Jim, the Peanut Rider comes with a very attractive Metho burner, my only reason for wanting to build a gas burner for it is to gain a bit of speed control.
