Getting videos from iPhone to YouTube
« on: March 15, 2019, 03:00:51 pm »
I formerly did most of my photo and video work with an old Pentax camera tethered by cord to my PC.  It worked, but once I got an iPhone, it seemed to be so handy and always ready to take a quality picture or video.

Now I am confronted with a problem...unless there are 5 or fewer photos or video is very short...I try emailing them from phone to my desktop, but Yahoo has a very limited file size and a video over 10 seconds (or 6 photos) usually exceeds Yahoo's limit and it won't go thru.

I ultimately want to send video as directly as possible from my iphone to YouTube for uploading...but I can't figure out how to do it.

Any guidance???

I don't think I have what you're searching for Roger, but what I do is take a video with my phone and then downloaded to my photos file in my computer, and then upload it to YouTube. it's a long arduous ordeal.

I use a video camera and laptop, but I believe Charlie (txlabman) loads his straight from iPhone to youtube and has even done some editing from the phone as well.

That is very clear how to do it except for one glitch...my iPhone 6 does NOT have a built in YouTube option for uploading video.  Messaging and email options YES, but they are very limited on size and anything more than 10 seconds of video overloads them.

Maybe I somehow need to download a YouTube option to my iPhone to do what the lady describes above.

Thanks Frank, but I'm still stuck for now.

Guidance....Getting videos from iPhone to YouTube
« Reply #5 on: March 19, 2019, 04:16:33 pm »
I finally figured it out myself with the help of my 14 year old grandson.  So many of today's "apps" like YouTube seem to assume you know what to do by osmosis...no instructions...just figure it out somehow!

Well, I wrote it down for my own use and share it here for others...note this was using an iphone 6...other phones???:
=========================================================================

To upload videos filmed with an iPhone 6, to YouTube
1) Open iPhone
2) Open YouTube (download app if not already on phone)
3) Within YouTube, look to top right of screen and click on tiny camera icon
4) Videos taken with the iPhone will appear on the screen, click on the one you want to upload to YouTube now
5) An “edit” screen will appear…though you do NOT need to edit video at this point and can just click on “Next”
6) Click on “Next”…write a quick title and description…then click on “Upload”
7) DONE…video is now on YouTube and the “url” can be copy/pasted to forum

============================
I'm old fashioned, I like repeatable instructions, though systems change overnite, so I can only vouch for this as of Mar. 19th, 2019.
