How To Pressurize small boiler with air?
« on: November 23, 2021, 06:53:34 pm »
My small vertical steam engine boiler has an inlet/safety valve that is M6 fine thread. I would like to run the engine on air. Where can I get an air hose adapter to fit the boiler?

I've never seen them for sale so you will probably have to make it. I made one in the past but can't find it at the moment.

If you don’t have the skills to make an adapter, take the boiler right to the hardware store with you and find a silicone hose/tube that is just slightly larger than the hole and one that they have will likely “screw” right into the boiler. If it’s snug enough, it will hold well over 15 psi which should be more than you need to just run the engine.

McMaster-Carr show a selection of M6 adapters.

I do the same.  they hold very well suprisingly.  I have even been able to hook up to a fishpump before.
Love steam engines, especially older German made.  Love the more clockwork style.  Addicted to this stuff!
