Nice work Jed, those look neat soldered joints. Nice work.

Where did you get the castings for the Firebox ends. Or did you cast them yourself?

Well, I wanted to build my own style of engine. So I made the patterns, from real doll house bricks, and casted them from aluminum. The boiler is also hand made. 3" dia, 6 3/4 long with an immersion heater in it. Joints are silver brazed of all brass construction. So far, I have been using commercially available fittings, except for the globe valve. I had that casted from phosphor bronze. The handwheel is of my own design.

Interesting, I would have thought a milled peice of steel would have survived for the Firebox sides using a round nose end mill to mimick the cement but that's another level using the doll house bricks to make the pattern.

Going to enjoy the updates. 😀

Jim, I made formers and hammered the brass around them. You need the right type of brass though.
