Hello all
Can someone help me, did Mamod clear laquer the boilers and pipework on their stationary engines as I been sent a SE3 by a customer to have a look at and was pondering cleaning up the metalwork...
Kind Regards
John
Yes, even the early flat bases back to the 30’s have clear lacquer
Sorry for the slow reply, Thanks for the help I did wonder if that was the case, what type of laquer do they (did they) use as it has to have been heat proff to a certain extent
I don't think it was really 'heat proof' lacquer.....more to just stop tarnishing in shops so that potential customers were buying something nice and shiny.
I have used this on chuff pots etc etc and recently a Jensen brick firebox that was first coated with heat proof black.
This Jensen is flame fired and so far its held up to around 20 firings from use by my Grandson.
