Thanks , I was pretty sure that they were 32 pitch, but unsure of the diameter.  That is certainly an unusual size.

I was down at the shop today and can confirm that the Jensen hollow steam screw is indeed #12-32.

While I would be surprised if the tattooed lady at your local hardware store would be able to provide a tap or die for #12-32, the thread is "on the charts" and it would be easy to acquire the tooling at a good industrial supplier.

Check Ebay, there are both a tap and a die offered very reasonable and probably okay for occasional use on brass.

Frank....where can I get one of those bolt size/thread plates?

Is there one for nuts?  I've seen their type in the big box
hardware store, but not for sale.

Machine shop supply such as MSC Industrial will have thread gauges.  Before internet, “Manhattan supply” published a hardcover catalog that probably weighed five pounds. If they didn’t stock it, a machinist didn’t need it.

The Screw Checker shown in the picture is from PEC tools.

They make really nice stuff and I also have a few of their square blades and rules.

I seen a few different sets of those "bolts and nuts on a wire" on Ebay.
