What gas and blowtorch do you use for Silver Brazing?I have LPG (smaller flame) that runs of a 9Kg BBQ bottle, MAPP gas and acetylene via a Turbo Torch.
MAPP gas is great as is the acetylene/Turbo Torch, but its really easy to over heat a small brass fitting when brazing it to copper pipe and for the brass to slump/melt.
Thinking about buying one of these sets (looks like a Sievert copy??) for larger brazing jobs like small boilers and larger brass piece brazing.
So interested in what gas(s) and what torch(es) you use.

Its been awhile since I've silver brazed anything, but I use a silver brazing tip on my oxy-acetylene torch set. I have 2 different heat melt silver brazing wire, I have map gas, but as I recall it wasn't up to the job. But you are correct Jim, I've ruined a few pieces with to much heat.
Your link is broken...
Just in cast you haven't seen it, Blondihacks posted a video last week about silver soldering specifically for model steam applications.

MAPP gas and acetylene copper to copper....brilliant.
It just takes a couple of seconds too long to melt/slump brass when its brass/copper or brass/brass.
Hi Jim,
I use a Sievert torch more or less the same as the burner in the advertisement and use propane gas. It does every thing I want from large to small, I have about six sizes of nozzles.
Take care Tony.
