an early Plank beam engine
« on: July 22, 2022, 07:43:39 am »
This one required some light restoration, mostly removing botched soldering by a previous owner and resoldering all the boiler fittings. The burner is prone to overheating and causing fires as is evident by the charred base.

Elegant and lovely ..... somehow that rotary valve system seems just right for that engine!

Beautiful rehab on the engine. Fun to watch that one running.

Thanks guys. I wish it didn't look nearly new but no choice when boiler work is required.

I was just admiring your resoldering work Brent, very uniform & even all around, the work of a master restorer.

Thanks Bruce. Hate to do that kind of work but sometimes you can't avoid it. Here's a "before" picture.

Hi Brent, It's great to see you have given it a new life and good clean-up.

Very nicely done!

Oh my , I gotta say it looks better than a lot of soldering jobs I've seen, but in this case  "more is NOT better"...lol.
Your resolder work is as the factory would have done it.
