I was thinking of changing the fuel and burner that i use to run my Stirling engines. So today I bought a new spirit lamp and ethyl alcohol for fuel. The performance results were notable between oil and ethyl alcohol. I tried to run my Stirling engine fan. It got heated fast and started to run sooner than oil. I was really excited to use ethyl alcohol because this is the first time I am trying out by myself. Please look into below video.
My observations:
- From 0:00 to 0:35sec engine starts. From 0:35sec to 1min : 17sec fan runs. From 1min : 18sec to 2min : 28sec heat source removed.
- From 2min : 31sec to 2min : 49sec just testing the air mass flow from the fan. The burner was placed about 1.5 feet away from the fan.
Fan blade is 3cm in width and 5cm in length - No visible soot formation..
It was really fun running the engine with spirit lamp. Sorry for the background noise in the video..
