Jensen Triple Expansion Engine

JOKES ASIDE!

Decided to run the Double 10 V off my Jensen 75 plant... Stuart boiler is under repair but I wanted to steam test it.   Found it to run fine, but man it's some wet steam.   But it worked.... the smallest cylinder seeing the steam first so on and so forth essentially did make it a Triple expansion test...

Thought it was a bit funny but also fun... and that's what we are all here for at the end of the day.

Now that I know the D10V works well, just saw it needs some gland packing at the Piston rod.     It runs nice, none the less.

The steam engine has done much more for science than science has done for the steam engine.”

Pretty amazing how much "work" steam can do before it "dies". That really only qualifies as double expansion however, as the D10's cylinders are being fed simultaneously, not consecutively, or rather simple not compound.

As to your packing glands, perhaps try loosening them slightly and adding just a bit of steam oil, then tighten them back again just a bit more than they were before. If the gland nut hasn't been "bottomed" yet, then there is still "packing" available, but some fresh lubrication there may be of help.
