Cyldon 13-3 Model Steam Engine Circa 1946

Anyone else have the issue I had in the video with their Cyldon burner?

I miss that little engine 😍

Only ran it a couple times, but didn’t have that issue... A small 45 degree pipe could be soldered onto the cap and direct the fumes away with some silicone hose, but I wouldn’t want to modify an old engine...

Looks like I had a decent sized flame in it too

I haven't run it since 2015 and I ran it on a BIX burner then Nick.

Its a nice looking engine isn't it :)

Thought you may like to see it  ;)

Nice little engine...

A few days ago we finally got rid of our old kitchen table - which had still the shape  of a Bassett-Lowke steam locomotive burner burnt into its surface...

My recently bought Carette steam engine has a bent piece of brass pipe at the end of the reservoir to divert the fumes, it ends under the chimney base - now I have a nice little flame burning under the chimney when I run the engine  ::)

That brought a smile to my face Thomas :)

Nice video Jim, that little flame did look like a pain in the ass. Find another cap and drill
a hole to fit brass tubing. Tighten it up and solder the tubing so it points away.
