DIY Steam Trip Hammer powered by Jensen #20G Steam Engine

This is a DIY homemade Steam Trip Hammer powered by a Jensen 20G Steam Engine the green belting I'm using is a larger 3mm thickness which is a thicker than normal belting for some added grip.

Thanks Bruce, my skills have very 'slightly' improved in the 6 years since I built this so it was good to break it down completely and rebuild it and fix a few things.

Very much an understatement Jim , your skills have come along impressively . I look at some of my early work and just smile. I remember back when Dean Williams was making SV valves and thinking Wow , I wish I could do that...😄👍

We can still get them, but I don’t think they would hit hard enough...

Wonder how well it would work if you added springs to “snap” the hammers back down? I believe Bing had a spring on one of their’s...

I’ve got 3 or 4 cases of them here, I buy them after the 4th of July for the kids when they’re like 50 cents/box

These come down with a bang Nick....trust me.....the thought of slipping a small pistol primer in there crossed my mind....very briefly.

A mate of mine ended up in hospital once when the primer auto feed on his Lee press malfunctioned and the whole lot went off....the nurses picked shrapnel out of his face and neck for hours, he was lucky he was wearing glasses.
