Ernst Plank No. 374 Schiffsdampfmaschine
« on: February 25, 2020, 06:36:32 am »
This is an Ernst Plank No. 374 Ships Engine circa 1925-1927.

An eBay buy from a seller in the Netherlands.

I definitely paid up for this one. But, IMHO it is in very excellent condition for a 90+ year old engine.

I have done nothing to it except giving it a good soaking in Ballistol.

It will be steamed soon and I will post another video.

What a beauty, Charlie. I really like the lithography.

Nice addition to your fine collection.

Thanks Scott, Bob and Nick.

The Chimney is a replacement per Brent. 😤

I hope to Steam it this week.

Still a beautiful engine--no big deal about the (Marklin) chimney. I missed one of these a while back. Good catch Charlie

Here is another one in far worse condition that sold for much more than I paid.

Wonder if this is the correct smokestack?  I am doubtful.

Burner is definitely not original.

Thanks Brent.

I am sure I will look for a long time to find the correct one.

I bid on that one! but needed too much work for the price...

Chimney does not look original, should be tapered.

Here is a smooth, blued Ernst Plank chimney (but likely smaller than yours would be). I believe Danny has done posts on how to make this style...

To be honest, I wouldn't worry too much about it, your Märklin chimney looks good on there

I agree I like the brick chimney.

I have a Plank engine needing the same chimney; the current role is being played by a Bing chimney.

Charlie - what's the OD of the chimney flange?, ie what ID chimney base should we be on the watch for?
