Jensen #30G steam plant
« on: April 22, 2019, 05:58:05 am »
I can't  take credit for this build as our forum member Tim Vrip was the original creator of this nifty little plant, it is on a beautiful Walnut board, I added a pressure gauge, ball bearings to the engine axle, replaced the 3" generator axle with a 4" axle,& added ball bearings & (2) 3 tired drive pulleys.  and lastly I added some brass governor balls to the faux governor. Tim creatively installed a on/off switch in the plinth. it runs very well & I find myself running it often even though it was suppose to go to market when finished.

Nicely done both of you! Every Jensen should come factory with a switch like that for the generator.

I know Tim does nice work, he restored a Jensen that I sold him a few years ago.

Beautiful custom modifications on a rarely seen engine.

Well Done!!!

Very nice Bruce (and Tim).

Wondering if there is any insulation between the element and the board?

A beautiful setup Bruce, i can see why you didn't let this one go!

I like the walnut which is such a lovely wood for bases.

I have since added a heat shield under the engine since you made me think of it Scott : ) , although after several runnings...it didn't show any scorching on the board.

Charlie , my initial plan was to finish this off (which I did) & offer it for sale...but I'm still to attracted to it to part with it right now....lol,  I'm thinking of taking the boiler apart & having it re-nickel plated.

Sounds like a plan.

It is going to look awesome once it is Re-nickled.  Heck, it looks awesome "in situ".

Did you show me this one with you at N.A.M.E.S.?
