Miss Liberty Speed Boat
« on: May 28, 2020, 01:55:43 pm »
I have been steaming and filming a bit this week.

First up is a video of an eBay purchase: the Miss Liberty Speed Boat.

Manufactured by Kuramochi and Co. aka “CK”.  The Company was in existence from 1844 until late 1941 or early 1942.

CK was one of the largest pre-WWII manufacturers of tin plate toys in the world. The company exported to the USA, UK and India.

The Miss Liberty Speed Boat was produced for the US Market in the late 1930s.

The box is in excellent condition. The only work I had to do was to the safety valve and to reattach the stand which was damaged in shipping.

Thanks Nick. The DJI Osmo Pocket doesn’t have a wide enough aspect lens and it doesn’t zoom. I will try my big camera next time.

Great summer acquisition Charlie.  Runs faster than my Bowman Peggy.

Thanks Scott. I ran it again yesterday.

I couldn’t resist another day with little wind.

She is a good looking boat, Charlie. I was unaware these were CK- thanks for that info. It runs well, and seems to navigate Lake Labman's boundaries with ease. I'm always surprised by the relative size of these boats.
Thanks for the video!

Wonderful run .... reminiscent of some of Lenn's fine craft!

Thanks Benny.  It is ~13" long.  It really sits nice in the water.  The burner is quite dangerous as fire tends to come out the exhaust pipe occasionally.

Nice little boat. Like your little lake, too.

Thanks Bob.

The pool was built for my Labs, but they occasionally allow me to steam one of my boats.

You're lucky. It's getting harder to find a place to run boats because of the concern about pollution from the exhaust, even if you've made a pot to trap steam oil emissions. The nearest local club near here is "electric only".

Lenn does still check in and takes a look around the Forum from time to time, but it has been about three weeks since his last posting. He was most recently logged on here May 26th, but he sure has gone quiet and I do miss his posts very much!
