Pair of Märklin 4112's
« on: March 11, 2019, 10:30:20 pm »
I would have to say after collecting many engines... Märklin is my favorite maker of steam toys and after the convertible, this is my second favorite engine design

That’s quite a pair Nick!

And both running well.

I am now using Everclear for the fuel for my meths burners.

I just wish I didn't have to drive to WI for the good stuff... but the weak stuff works good enough in these larger burners.

I do quite like Marklin as well. They run well. :)
I know the next time I’m in WI, I’ll get Everclear as per your advice. Right now I use the “green” stove fuel but they add 1% acetate (finger nail polish remover?) which makes it less ideal.
I’ve been using alcohol gel lately but today for some reason with the chilly rain, the BTUs was down even though on dry colder days, seems hotter...

Yes, Nick. I love these 4112. I've , issued on a few bids, and am still not ready to pay the BIN on the ones on the bay.

I do agree all the BIN's on ebay are on the high side and they've been listed for a LONG time

2 great vids Nick. The first one has a bony old crank rod that is just lovely. The governor and rocking slide valve-I really like that thing. Nice camera work too.
