Peanut Rider Fresh out of the Box

Was a slow start, and took a little running in... Had to disassemble, clean and re-lube... Used Daniel’s method of creating a graphite slurry by mixing graphite powder with a drop or two of alcohol. Worked great, thanks for the tip! Now runs much faster than the video, so I’ll have to get a new one with it powering something...

I was thinking about a poor man's throttle for this engine, of course a small round BIX burner would be the way to go...But what if took a thin wall brass tube sized so it slip fits over alcohol burner wick spout? Pull out enough wick for larger flame fast run, then slide the brass tube out to cover some of the wick for smaller flame slow run?..might be a little touchy and might need a handle to help get at the sleeve without burn fingers, just a thought....

Seems to run just fine , were you hav8an issue with it prior Nick ? Never heard of the graphite slurry , assume that was for the piston & bore ?

Yes, what I got on video was its best performance before the clean and re-lube. Before that it was far more sluggish and just after the video it came to a complete stop and I couldn’t get more than 4 or 5 revolutions. The slurry is messy, but it works great at “painting” it onto the piston with a q-tip/cotton swab.

They do need a good running in. Mine was like yours at first, but it was the displacer piston rod that needed cleaned and lubed.

I cleaned mine too, the manual says it’s good to go and will not need any re-lubing with regular use... what did you use on it?

3 in 1 oil. Lubed the shaft, rotated it a few times, wipe off and repeat till the oil comes off clean.
