Thanks guys
My regret is that i nearly bought a nice Maccsteam 6" twin flue gas fired boiler for it, sadly they are no longer in business. Either that or a nice coal fired boiler would pair well with it.
I'd say it is comparable to a 1/4 horsepower Sipp and thus fully capable of doing real work. In that way I'd say that it actually is a full size engine in that engines of this size were often used to power things within shops and factories back when steam was King. This engine could easily have driven a bellows on a small forge or a bank of sewing machines, possibly even a small lathe or drill press, or a whole host of smaller machine tools.
I must admit i really like those 1/4 horse Sipp engines Daniel, you never see them for sale over here. You are quite right in saying my engine is good as a small workshop engine used to power lathes and such as i think that is what they were built for, i.e the electric motor of it's day!
I know the PMR 6CI is based on those nice A J Weed engines that came in different HP sizes, i hope Gil might do a post featuring his collection of them.
