Radiguet Running Radiantly
« on: June 22, 2022, 08:48:36 pm »

The Moral of the story is buy parts when you see them.

I lucked out to have:

-Safety Valve Pin that fits
-Spare Marklin Round Mushroom Vaporizer
-Locknut Washer
-Copper Washer
-Sight Glass stuffs

I havent done the sight glass yet but wanted to see if I could get a run. The Marklin Burner is absolutely perfect size for a gentle run.

This machine runs 1 direction but the threading on the main steam rod is threaded in a way it always came undone. A locknut washer helped.

This is not being cleaned or polished other than a mild wash. There is a lot of grime still.

The whistle is similar to a reverse safety valve pushing down pushes down to what feels like a spring loaded valve.

I love watching the water pump which functions as i can see it draw water. I think its my only machine which has a working water pump now.
I will know the extent of its function once i tap the sight glass in.

I know there are a couple screws may do better replaced. Also just general dirt and rust treatments for the cast iron. Minor adjustments.

I will have a better longer video with sight glass functions soon until then please enjoy and subscribe to my channel.

As always any information or history is loved.

Best Regards

Jason P Ernst :)

So you entered also to the Radiguet Owner's Club. I will add
the price list below. Three sizes where available then (ca. 1898)-
35 - 42 - 56 cm in high. Each one could be ordered
with a water pump for extra cost. These are very rare
and beautiful engines - congrats Arnold :D

Arnold Many thanks for the advertisement as well as showing off your beautiful engine. There do not seem to be many out there This one is all original and compete minus a washwer locknut and safety valve pin I haven't a clue to the original burner but it seems they were always too powerful this marklin burner has me to steam from room temp water in under 8 minutes it fits perfect too.

Thanks for my Radiguet welcome its easiest my favorite engine. I named it Mignon like Minion but older french origin for loved one. Its very complete and loved.

Also many thanks for those who also appreciated my video.

Heres another

Cheers and GOOD MORNiNG

Jason -
If you love your machine so much then you drank the coffee too - right? ;D
Have a picture of my Radiguet with a Paper roll for size. My model is
number 19895 - the biggest. (The dummy regulator is maybe not original
but an accessory from period)

Simply Stunning Arnold. What a nice machine.

I cleaned the rust off the steel last night its semi shiny I kinda wanna naturally polish this lightly with grease and a soft cloth over time it should brighten up just from wipe downs. It has never been cleaned far as I can tell no scratches. I would use a soft cloth and just gently wipe it.

Anyhow here is a long video.

hope you have a great day Arnold as well as all you other steamers who enjoy this.

Cheers

Jason

Had this for a bit now and just noticed this detail. I always thought the Advertisement was covered in wood cladding. Now this was nearly impossible to photograph but its a very awesome extra detail.

Very nicely detailed - just as advertised. Mine has no liner.
