Stuart D10 and Marklin Gang Saw

Just a little fiddling the last two days on this set-up.

I believe that this a fairly uncommon Marklin Gang Saw; but, the experts will correct me if I am wrong.

I have no idea how common, or uncommon, that Marklin saw is, but I can tell you that it is a wonderful accessory to have available to play with!

That Stuart D-10 is none too shabby either!!!

Bonjour Charlie (I definitely don't like nicknames),
The D10 is the machine which gave me the steam virus more 50 years ago and is THE best representation of a model steam machine to my opinion.
Based on my experience, its major problem is the rust, especially when using original metal piston O'rings, this is why mine have a little screw on the cylinder head to let me put some oil after each navigation.
How do you protect your one from rust ?

I mainly run it on air.  When I do, I squirt oil into the end of the air hose and let the pressure drive it through the cylinder.

I have only run it on Steam a few times and I always have run it on air after steaming to dry it out.  Mine has an oiler on it when running on steam.

Thanks Daniel.  I am contemplating adding it to my vintage workshop, which I pulled off a bottom shelf last night and cleaned.

The vintage workshop tool accessories have gotten very expensive and I am glad to have a few good ones at decent prices.

The Marklin Gang Saw is the highest price I have ever paid for one.

Very nice Charlie, somewhere I have one of these, but I think yours may have better paint. Have you tried cutting anything? I’m thinking maybe some of that 1/4” or so thick foam sheet packing that has kind of a plastic feel to it…

I have not tried to cut anything with it yet Nick.

A good idea on material to use to cut.
