I removed the solder on the boilerend when it arrived, as i was completely inadequate, and just cleaned, fluxed, and "blobbed" some solder on there, to make certain the holes was completely closed off.
The sightglass threads seemed to be in good condition.
Also, i do have pictures of the original sightglass, but eventhough it´s fairly easy to replicate, i doubt i´ll ever make one for this.
These engines are no more than mere fun oddities to me, so at least for now, any real restorationwork will be up to the next generation.

Right now it it has been opened, to see if some lightoil on the old papergaskets can´t make them swell enough to seal properly again.
If not, i´ll have to make some new ones, but would prefer the original ones in there if possible.

That is a very different piston arrangement, the way it pivots. That one did have a slight leak.
Maybe a continuous feed water would've helped, hooked to the faucet.

Well, not perfect, but still quite a bit better than the first test.
Now it at least holds enough pressure to show the whistlegasket failing

Little doubt in my mind, that if you could get the boiler endcap gaskets to reseal, you'll have hardly any difficulty with a simple whistle gasket .... unless Murphy decides to get involved!?!?
