Weeden #17 - Good Looking Engine - Hate the Burner
« on: November 04, 2024, 06:30:49 pm »
I got the No. 17 running but I had to do some dodgy things.  I really do like the looks of the engine, I'd even say its pretty sexy looking.  The reverse is interesting, if you like to burn yourself on hot steam.

I am really hoping someone will share how you deal with this burner - seems there are many ways to set yourself on fire.  Anyone has the #17 with its original burner plug?

1. Replaced the pivot arm for the Piston Rod, was completely missing.
2. JB Weld'ed whistle in.
3. Outside tank seam, bottom weeped - used superglue.
4. Underneath there was a massive amount of solder around around the circumference.  Pretty bad leak, again used JB Weld.
5. Had to replace the sight glass but I really think its two small in outer & inner diameter.  Got it from weedensteam.com

Here is a photo of the JB Weld, considering this is 3 steam ups not too bad.  If this was a engine is much better cosmetic condition I would not have used JB Weld.
