Weeden Large No. 81 & Small No. 80 Windmills
« on: April 09, 2026, 03:48:30 pm »
Here is a little video of my newest addition, a No. 81 Large Windmill with the Small No. 80.  Driving them is a No. 1 Line Shaft and Electric 670 Engine.

The #81 had been on eBay for a bit and I was able to get it outside of eBay from Russ Terpstra (on eBay as rojo3kids) that made it worth while to repair.  His Weeden collection is beyond impressive and many of the rare Weedens are on Frank's Weeden Web Site.  I think he said he is missing under 10 items offered from Weeden!

Anyways, this #81 was in bad shape when I got it.  It was missing its lower axle bar & double pulleys and the top pulley was broken off too.  I bought a #80 to get its double pulley (it was missing its top & blades). Then I used a broken No. 1 Line Shaft that I had in a drawer to get its one good pulley.  I also had to get some 2mm bar stock to make the top axle.  Over all, I think it came out pretty good - at least it didn't fly apart when I ran it behind my 670 - ha!

Thanks Stroker!

I updated the photos in my post to have side by side shots, front and back of the Windmills.  I just painted the #81's pulley hubs - I think the green came out pretty good (I mixed a little Testors blue into the the green.
