Empire throttle parts
« on: August 18, 2022, 12:11:31 pm »
Good afternoon from Brooklyn...

I have an Empire project in mind and need the 'banjo' bolt and needle valve
throttle parts from an Empire engine.  Hopefully, someone out there will have them.
I'm not yet ready to buy an engine to cannibalize it.
Purchase or barter is good with me.

So I have coming a B30, which I'll be taking the under parts of the base (heater / plates / hardware), the one red thumb screw and the whistle top.  Anything else left over is more or less up for grabs.

Now I am not sure what exactly what those parts are.  Here is a photo of the unit coming to me - which is out for delivery right now - YAY!

Not looking to make $$$ on it, if there is something that is of use to your project - just shipping costs.

Thanks for the note.  I've added a photo of the parts I'm
seeking as they are on a sample engine. The red-knobbed needle
valve and the banjo bolt  under it are my objectives.

Several days ago an ebay sale ended and someone bought a
Weeden engine (32?) w/o boiler and some Empire parts.  Went for
more than I could rationalize spending.  Maybe the seller
would give my contact to the buyer.  I'll try that.

@komet163b I completely forgot these engines my brother sent to me, which I wasn't really interested in.  I think they are Weeden's?  Are any or all of these of use - I am not looking to make $$$ since I got them for free and offer them up for shipping and perhaps a little juice to get them boxed up and dropped off at the post office.

Edit:
The one what seems most complete (the black handle one) its heater works.  I just figured I give it a go, read ~100 ohms so I plugged her up.  Made steam.  The tank seems copper to me too.  Though the engine's steam line isn't really making it into the piston housing.  The housing kind of pivots on this screw with a spring.  Not sure how you work on that, unless you pull off the tank.

The other electric one reads ~95 ohms - could be good too. Though it has more problems with the piston and where it connect to the wheel.

I suppose if you have any Empire parts for a B30 would be cool (heater bottom plates/heater blanket, screws, whistle bits).

Sorry to do a "take back" but the Empire Number 90 is off the table.  I actually got it working, I'll post in the general forums about it running but the Weeden items are still up for parts if you (or anyone) needs them.
