Weeden Model 44 safety valve
« on: December 06, 2021, 09:14:42 am »
I need a Weeden Model 44 safety valve which should be the same as a Model 43 and perhaps a few others. The only source I can find is MF Steam in the UK and am not really sure how to order from him - I guess you tell him what you want and he tells you how much it's going to be. I also would be happy to purchase a used one if anyone has a spare. Also the whistle could stand to be replaced but I can live without that as I just want it to run so I can move it out of storage. Thanks!
Regards,
Larry

That was the first place I went Bruce and was surprised not to find a replacement there - would have thought a missing safety valve happens quite often. Actually I was surprised mine was gone - I think I'm going to blame Maggie my cat.

I saw Nick & Jan both had one of these engines when I researched Youtube, I could (possibly) make one of these if I could get all the technical information I need to build one. if someone could supply me with all that information including a few photo's I will attempt to build one for Larry.
Thanks , Bruce

Mine went to the UK, but should be the same as the 43 which Larry has for sale.

I just saw the whole engine for sale on Ebay so I posted it in the Ebay section. Need extra parts?

Have you tried to contact Ian at MF Steam, perhaps you will have better luck than me. Kevin was making them for me so I am now looking for another supplier. Unfortunately I don't even have any used ones I can spare.

Just a heads up, if the Weeden boiler is punched and threaded without a bushing there are only a few threads and a Mamod whistle or safety valve will work in a pinch.
