I see nothing has happened on this board yet, but I suspect that will soon change. Certainly somewhere down the road I'll have something(s) to post up on here, but I must get to work on my railroad first, so the boats will have to wait.

Meanwhile .... here's a bit of a teaser of things that will show up here eventually, when I find the time to do a whole bunch of rework on it. Almost useable as is, but not really "seaworthy" for the waters I intend her for, so a complete makeover is in store, and likely a whole new deck that is far more waterproof and offers a better seal.

WOW...that sure is a beaut Daniel !

Mind you, i might be biased by the fact that i spent more than a decade on similar vessels, so tugs have a huge place in my heart...as does its current home port.
Cheers

Sorry Jan .... but I'm afraid during the makeover there are plans to change the home port as well, to something a bit more local, like where I grew up and where I actually got the model from originally ... the SF Bay.

Thanks for the kind words Larry.

I too am waiting, though none too patiently, to get after this beast, but there are soooooo many other projects in line ahead, and so little time it seems. But get to it I will .... some one of these days!

There really are a rather large number of individual projects that I will need to tackle to get this tug in the water again, and some of them are quite major, but after the railroad is laid down (needs building half a dozen turnouts minimum) and a few more locos converted to R/C, then the tug should be next.

Holy Cow Daniel....that looks grand as it is, but perhaps it's not seaworthy and you want to run it on the water.  Either way, gorgeous piece of work.

Actually Rog, it looks far better a few feet back, than it actually is. I would say with just a little bit of work it would be pond worthy again, as clearly it had been run extensively before I got it. But the deck is a guaranteed sieve with totally unsealed and fully exposed deck level hatches and no scuppers of any kind, so any water coming over the rails will almost instantly find its way below. I suppose it spent its operational life on the shallow pond in Golden Gate Park in Frisco, so it didn't need to worry about water coming over the rails. But I have no such dedicated model "yacht" pond here, so it will have to deal with the wind and waves of the deep mountain lakes that are available to me, and thus needs to be made "Seaworthy" to a new standard!
