PlayBoy - running, original heater
« on: May 28, 2026, 03:33:11 pm »
So, this is a first for me - selling on the forum...

This little cutie is boxed for sale.  I'd rather avoid EBAY, where I bought it.
$85 + taxes/shipping came to $107.  There was no guarantee the heater was good
and it had no S/V.  Now it has an S/V and runs.

So, I'd like to get $107 for it.  Shipping would be $25 and I'll refund any left
over.  If shipping is more (like to the Pacific Northwest), I'll eat it.  We can
discuss the particulars through  pm's

Gotta steam 'em up!

Oh fine .... now you bring that one out of the woodwork!?!?

Packed it on Tuesday.  Saw the other PlayBoy and said why not.
A weak-running Turbine is also packed.  I'm a bit sheepish about
selling weak-runners.

Wished I would have seen this sooner - that's one nice early Playboy!   Though glad it has gone to a nice home.

Rich...Would you, or anyone else like a PlayBoy project???

Pretty decent looking boiler...with one small dent
Double-action cylinder - you might want to buy a slightly longer 'hold on' screw
Steam pipe and base pretty decent
Flywheel is apropos

Needs a banjo for the top
Needs a whistle
Needs a pulley
Needs a heater
Needs 3 nuts/bolts for the boiler
And...an entire sightglass assembly

Regarding the heater - I've used 380 band heaters,
35mm X 35mm in size with some success.  My PlayBoy,
B31, and an Elektro all run with one.  Be forewarned,
all the band heaters from China vary a bit in wattage.
I suggest you buy two at a time.  Or, try American!

I cannot give it away.  I was about to use the boiler
to run another engine - a PM Research in a nice display
setup.  I'm open to swaps (MARX 1930's trains, fine rare
rough agate, or intriguing steam engines and toys.)

Nice weather in the Big Apple today,
