Christmas Come Late: Bill Harris Steam Roller
« on: January 11, 2020, 07:10:21 pm »
Some time ago I started a thread entitled "Christmas Come Early," in which I announced my acquisition of a Bill Harris steam roller, a model for which I had been looking for some twenty years.

That model arrived damaged, having been dropped by the shipping company, and it took me some time to deal with the difficulties resulting from this.

I am pleased to state that all difficulties have now been resolved, the shipper has reimbursed me for the damage, and the roller has been repaired.

Here it is running on air. I'll steam it outdoors if there ever is a spring.

I hope that you will enjoy it.

Gas burner installed to replace Mickey Mouse Sterno tray (shown in foreground).

I used an existing tank and burner, and I didn't want to butcher the supply pipe, nor did I want to drill holes in the roller, so it looks a bit temporary--which it is, as I still want the means to use Sterno (I have a whole bucket of cans from a yard sale).

Still waiting for an approximation of spring.

Great job on the burner.

You did a very nice job cleaning this one up.

I can't wait to see it running on Steam!
