Grab a Gear and Go! Doll & Co Transmission 650/1
« on: January 10, 2021, 01:51:45 pm »
Got this awhile back, the Doll 650/1 Transmission that has the "clutch" mechanism to slide the driving wheel sideways and engages the shaft.

The base has lost nearly all of its paint, but the rest is in good shape.

Very nice Scott, I think I remember seeing that one on ebay. I wish more lineshafts were made like this... I have a very large Doll lineshaft that must be the same height, but about twice the length, unfortunately it does not have this feature.

Thanks guys. Ya Nick, it was like July 2020, won at just a little north of $100 which made me happy... the paint is in rough shape and it arrived with the shaft bent (of course). A little light rubber malleting straightened it out.

Here's it in action with a Doll 697 Bergbahn.

Scott what an absolutely fabulous lineshaft, first one I've seen.

What is the engine that is driving it in your video?

Thanks Jim.

The electric motor is the Saf-Toy brand, or at least parts of one.

Thanks Scott, that's a new one to me as well.

Scott has to use that to run his Doll accessories because I don’t believe he has any nice Doll engines to power them  ;) 😂

Ya... where did I put those engines....

The little motor is nice if you want to throw a layout together quick.

Thanks guys!

Nice to see this great piece in action--first video I've seen of the clutch mechanism. Don't know for sure but would guess that's how some of the real ones worked in those days.
