John Ericcson Safety Steam Engine
« on: February 15, 2020, 02:09:56 pm »
Here are some photos and a short video of my AB Alga Engine.
Keep in mind I am not a master filmmaker and this engine hasn't been fired for a number of years :-\

The whistle could use a good cleaning and a soak in vinegar, then again, I can't hear high pitched sounds anyway. :)

Very nice to see one running. I have this engine but did not get the instruction book with it, so have never tried to run it. Thanks for the video.

Yes, very nice to see it running! I also have one that is unfired by myself... might have to change that...

Doug, I think mine most likely has the instructions, I will get a copy posted for you...

Bill, do you have any of the accessories that mount to the base?

Thanks Gil,
Nick, I have no accessories, I think it was a grinder, a very simple lathe and line shaft that was offered. do you have any?
Doug, I also have the instructions and can scan them, just let me know.

The most important info in the instructions is to add 30 ml of water to the boiler, (a ounce shot) very small boiler. :)

Thanks for the heads up! I would have had a spill when I fill mine for the first time  :D

Not much thought put into the lathe (almost the same as the lineshaft), but I'd sure love to have the full set!!
