Hi folks
here we have a Hand-crafted twin log splitter model steam engine tool that is 7 1/4" tall ,5 1/2" wide & 6 1/4" long & weighs 1 lb. 13 oz. this was not made by me. it has an oak stand with homemade pulleys & running gear. It needed a bit of work to get in this condition & now runs out very well.



next is a single log splitter model steam engine tool. it is 9 1/2" tall, 4 1/4" wide & 7 1/2" long at the base, it's a bit top heavy & I'm considering mounting it to a larger base. its about 3 lbs in weight. it has 2 axles with home made pulleys & 4 oilers in 4 brass axle block supports. I didnt build this but did do quite a bit to make it function like you see it now. frame is made from Oak.

I now know what this model is, it's called a "sweep" meant to be powered by horse(s) moving about in a continuous circle, generally hooked via a very low-slung drive shaft connected to a tool outside of the horse's path. it is 4 1/2" sq x 3" tall & weighs 1 lb. 10 oz. & has a 14" long swing arm.

Interesting accessories Bruce especially the log splitters. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like those.

Thanks Larry, they were on Ebay a week ago or so & I instantly fell in love with them, the folksyness of them & the old build wood charm attracted me immediately. they all required quite a bit of work to get them "close" to what I wanted them to be as far as exhibition (show) ready. very grateful I was able to acquire them all.

That new set of really nice accessories that you just took delivery on, have definitely found the right home now!!!

A 360^o swing arm with a hook on the end of it, must be intended to do something?

While I don't know what it is, or is supposed to actually do, I find that the two square ended side-shafts turning in opposite directions is an interesting, if not really diagnostic feature!?!?
