Must of my modelling efforts have been period ships but in recent years I have ventured into models of cars circa 1900 that were powered by steam engines or gasoline. My current project is the ferry Trillium which ran between the city of Toronto and the Toronto Islands. This model will have a working double compound engine. Images of three of my models are below
Image 4966 is of the Panhard Lavasor Forward Control Phaton. It has a two cylinder internal combustion engine, a four speed gear box, functional steering and brakes.
Image Profile-3 is the La Marquise. It has four steam cylinders, functional steering, and throttle. The model is a regular part of mu exhibit at NAMES where it runs for the duration of the expo.
Image 305 is a picture of the feathered paddle wheel that is part of the Trillium ferry
Great to have you join the event David. 🤠
Looking forward to seeing you again at NAMES.
Those are some really nice looking models David - looking forward to seeing the finished Trillium.
Larry, thanks for your reply. So far I have completed the Trillium's paddle wheel and made a whole bunch of engine components. A lot of time goes into those components so I am looking forward to the day when they all come together to form an engine. I expect it will take another 18-24 months to have the model complete.
David, thanks for posting pics of your great models here
Intricate and intriguing .... I would love to see some more ...... PLEASE!?!?
Great display, David...!!!
Thanks for joining in David

Was great to meet you at NAMES and see some of your models in person
Fine models... one day will attend NAMES.
La Marquise is exquisite.
Thanks for posting.
The autos are incredible, I definitely would love to see more of your work.
Thank you for the comments about my cars. I will have them at NAMES in April so if you will be at that show you can see the real thing there. If you go to
www.dnelson.ca you can see pictures of the cars and my ship models through construction to completion.
Hi David, As said above it is really great to see you here and I am glad you could exhibit in our virtual show.
Here is a short video I just cut and published from footage of David's display at last year's NAMES show.
