Regarding lubrication, for hot air engines....
I see a lot of differing ideas. And, I often try them out. Always returning to my old favourite. (Suggested by Reid, many years ago).
If it is metal on metal. Rotating, or sliding. I use 5w-30 full synthetic. As in my car.
The only variant is
this engine......
https://youtu.be/-6LBcep-_iIThe displacer is moved, only, by the impulses from the power piston.
It will only run, with half a drop of
this oil on it's horizontal displacer shaft.

Most of my engines have graphite pistons. So, need no cylinder lubrication.
I never use graphite powder on power pistons, preferring an oil film to seal the running clearance.
David:
Thanks for the helpful tips on lubrication for Stirling Engines. 👍
Very helpful.
Charlie
David, those are some sharp stirling and I like the repurposing of materials. Thanks for the tips on running and for the excellent table
Thanks, David. I have also been using Mobil 1 synthetic 0W-20 or 0W-30.
These modern synthetics are great and they don't gum up after a year or two of sitting.
Thanks for posting the additional videos David.
Always good to see the Famous Quobble.
And the Modified Maiwald caught my eye.
Thanks for your wonderful contributions to GPU 2020.
