Ok!...I am kind of surprised there needle bearings!...Hmm...now I am wondering if the whizzing sound might be coming more from the brass gears or the governor?...back in the day we used to wash the grease out of our slot-car gears and apply "whitening" formula toothpaste to the brass gears and prop the rear wheels up and let it run for 20 min to 1 HR....the toothpaste actually has micro abrasives simular to fine rubbing compound and it will polish the brass teeth...you then wash the toothpaste off with warm water and apply your favorite lube....it made the cars Noticeably quiter and run smoother....I guess I will know more when my engine shows up.
