Hi,
 Had same question when I first read post as "wick"  lead me to in my head read -

add an oiler
With normal "drill bit"

Re-reading and just picking this phrase

"add an oiler
With normal wick"

Poster might mean an oil cup stuffed with wick material  as you defined.
