If you go to Jim's YouTube channel, you can sort of shop for what you might like, as he has more than a few videos of some of them running. Doing so will likely also get you recommended links to other's channels that may show other engines running.
Some of the most recent releases are likely the more sophisticated and functionally pleasing engines but also tend to cost a bit more.
The route I took was to try and score engines that were listed at come-on prices and didn't get bid up to prohibitive levels but I have likely missed most of the better engines in doing so!
I could try to make a few recommendations for you, but my collection is somewhat limited, and I have no experience with what are likely some of the better engines.
It would be a bit like trying to pick out a girlfriend for you!?!?
