How to date a Stuart Turner Beam engine

I am trying to find the date of a Stuart Turner beam engine I have. I see the serial number but I haven't found any date chart online. any ideas?

Re serial number?  I have not seen a serial number on any that I have owned or seen. These engines have been the same since they first came to production. The only difference I recall is the flywheel change a little at some point and I have no recollection of when that was.

If I remember right there are part numbers on some of the beam pieces, but not a serial number…

This is not likely a serial number. It is in the casting so there are likely others with the same number.

While it is possible to switch parts of the mold for sand casting, it is extra work unless the manufacturer feels each piece requires a separate number in which case most all serial numbers are stamped or engraved.

I have seen a couple older Jensen steam engines with an odd number in the casting.

A good way to date a Stuart Beam is to first give it some flowers and then take it to a nice restaurant!

Ah Gil, I thought about going with that line and decided it was just a little too hokey to spring on a new guy with a sincere request.
