This was a nice little project that I took on for Daniel and as he said the main issue for me was the size of the lettering at just 1.3mm tall. I used some tiny ball nosed cutters of just .3mm diameter. I did initially try .2mm diameter but these didn't last as they were just too small for my machine as I don't have enough rpm. But increasing the diameter 50% to .3mm made the difference and were still small enough to get the detail I needed.
The fixing hole in the back of the plate is M3 and I thread milled this using a tiny .5mm pitch threading tool. The advantage of using this is that I can control exactly how deep the thread is going to be. So the pilot hole was 3mm flat bottom (overall thickness of plate was 3.6mm) and the thread was milled 2.8mm deep. Daniel informed me that the fixing screw protrudes 2.5mm from the door.
The two finishes I used were high temp enamel for number nine and brass blacking solution for the number 4.
