Hi, at the beginning of collecting steam I always repolished and varnished - but today
I rely on patina. I would just clean, oil and reassemble the engine - without adding any
Paint or polish! Also the value is higher on an untouched model. Otherwise if you
like "kitsch" it's ok to polish - so your decision
