that looks very much like the 4-wick-burner of the 4-4-0 Enterprise, but for those locos the shape of the reservoir is different.
I am not expert enough to say whether sb has simply converted his vaporizer (hoping to get more heat for outdoor steaming) or if BL delivered some Super Enterprises with a wick burner...
I add a photo of the vaporizer, just in case...
I really like the Super Enterprise, an impressive engine. They usually need some time until they really run well (no wonder, considering all the dried ooze in the thin steam and exhaust pipes). I fell that, all in all, they run better on oil which is not too "thick" - but it pretty much depends on the loco.
As the steam pipe is mounted within the boiler and there is no proper steam dome, they react grumpily when overfilled or when being shaken too much while starting... [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
