Hi Brian

I own a Perseus plant with one of these built into it.

It is a exhaust trap/chuff pot for the engine exhaust which condenses the steam to water and can by drained by means of using the engine exhaust pressure to empty it into another container.

Connections/operation is as follows:
(using the last photo for reference)
The copper pipe on the side connects to the engine exhuast, the top pipe connects to the chimney by means of a silicon tube with a gap left inbetween both solid pipes i.e so it can be squeezed. The globe valve connection is the condensate drain.

When connected up to the plant the globe valve should be shut when running, to empty the pot when running open the globe valve and squeeze the gap in the silicon tube between the chimney which will force the water through the drain valve.

Hope this makes some sense!! ;D
