I bought this custom-painted Wilesco Steam Wagon with a matching towable field piece. I just got an email from eBay Commerce UK Ltd saying that my purchase price was refunded. Curious, I looked for any messages in eBay and found one:
Dear Paul,
We are writing to inform you that your recent purchase through the Global Shipping Program from [vintagehoneypots] cannot be completed.
The item in question has been deemed restricted. This could be due to import/shipping restrictions or eligibility requirements within the Global Shipping Program. The item will not be shipped to you nor returned to your seller.
This sucks more for the seller than for me. At least I got my money back, but the engine isn't being returned to the seller either.
All I can figure is some bureaucrat saw the miniature cannon and decided it was somehow a lethal weapon, which is outrageous. There are many clues such as no firing mechanism and a muzzle which is far to thin to withstand a powder charge, which indicate there is no way it could be considered lethal. There were no fuel blocks (you know what I mean) or anything else that could set off alarm bells.
Has anyone else experienced something like this?
Paul
